A little misty

Its a little misty on Tuesday morning about 11:30 a.m. 30 degrees out, weather looks like it might be in our favor the next few days with some expected snow, not a lot but 4 or 5 inches would be quite welcome. The icy base is still there and the snow on top is good for lube. I sound like I am repeating myself each day. Just drove back from Gaylord along trail 7 and its white all the way up. Flat and hard though. Last night I came back up here to Sledheads to clean up around the store and down at my storage units. On the way back home just north of the high school with zero warning I hit something with my plow. I didn’t know what had happened and saw stuff flying when it happened, I pulled over and by the time I got out of my truck another car had turned around and was pulling up. For a brief second and that was the worst part I thought it could have been a person and was really afraid to look. Thankfully it was a deer and the car that had turned around had been heading north and hit the deer first and sent it into me. It went under my plow and all the way down the frame rail on the drivers side and a bunch got hung up on the rear shock tower. I have seen people walking that stretch of road at night in dark clothes and that’s what made me think that it could have been a person. The same scenario happened thanksgiving on m 72 by the parking lot and Terrys Sport center where a car heading the opposite direction hit a deer and sent it thru the windshield of a car coming the other way and killed a friend of mine from Grayling. It all happens so fast you just never even see it coming. I will spare you the pictures on this update but will have them here on the counter if you want to see them. There sure wasn’t much left of it. The picture I am posting below here is actually pretty cool. A lady gave it to me this weekend. They had just sold their place and she has been collecting all these trail permits over the years so a BIG THANK YOU to her.  Missing 2009 so if anyone has one I would love to get it. In 2000 trail permits were ten bucks. Back then I would make 50 cents for each one I sold, now they are $48 and I make a whole dollar for each one that I sell…….Also Rick who is the publisher of the Great Lakes Pilot which is a great publication and he is also owner of the Superior Hotel in Gran Marais. His place is very old school and cool. If you go to Grand Marais and want a place to stay give him a call at 906-494-2539. Its walking distance to the bars in town and a great little mom and pop place. A couple more hits on the missing skidoo bag up near starvation lake, someone said it was hanging in a tree near there and then someone called me this morn and said it was at the hide away, I called there and she said they didn’t have it. Then another guy was just said he rode the area looking for it. She would love to get her bag and her prescription glasses back.  Thanks for checking in. Pete
