A cool and frosty morning here in downtown Frederic. Cant believe I havent been on here for more than two months. I finally made myself sit down here to put a little update out there and then by Dec 1 I need to get back into the groove of doing daily reports. Who knows what this winter riding season will bring. So here are some things I have been meaning to put out there. Old 27 north from Frederic has finally been repaved and is smooth as can be until you get just up past Bradford Lake Hills so that is about 3 miles of new road, there are still markings up there which makes it look like they are going to continue to the county line which makes it great for the bikers and hot rods running old 27. Dingmans Bar reopened about a month or so ago and is now known as the Bear Lake Inn. I havent had a chance to go out and check it out yet but it looks very nice from the outside. The Swamp has been closed since March but I hear it will be reopening soon. The Frederic Inn has been open and busy, picture below was last weekend of all the side by sides parked out back. Side by & 4 wheeler traffic in town has been busy all the time. On the other hand I didnt see much in the way of horse riders thru town this summer. The mountain man stopped by last week and thats the first I have heard from him in six months. He is still camped out as always but has been dealing with some serious health issues. He told me he was supposed to have surgery but havent had a report from him. Also got my hot rod out finally with a new set of wheels on it, to bad it got to cold to quick. The great thing about the beard was that people didnt recognize me and I had some fun with that. Spent a week in the u.p. in September Kayaking and that was fun and did a quick trip to Denver in early September too. There are two new motels currently being built up in Gaylord. One of them is not in a good spot to ride out of but the other one is near Big Buck and is a great spot to ride out of if it gets completed yet this fall. I am already getting calls for sled rentals and I do not do that anymore and do not believe there is anyone left in Gaylord that does it either. For sure no one in Grayling or Houghton Lake does it. So thats about it for now as I figured I should finally get something on here. Thanks for checking and be safe……but that just reminds me. Wear a mask where ever you go…… Up until last week I didnt know one person that had the virus. Like a dummy I went to my nieces wedding in Chicago along with both of my daughters. We were adamant on wearing masks. Last count was 12 people in my family that tested positive and we sat at the table with mosts of them. Both my brothers, my sister, 7 nieces, and my brother in law plus others all tested positive. Myself and my two girls all negative. We dodged the bullet on that one but I am sold on the masks. Also have 3 friends now in Grayling that are very sick too. So wear a mask and I am going to make sure that anyone that comes in here this winter wears a mask or I dont want them in here.
