Welcome to the 2014-2015 Snowmobile Season – it’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again to start thinking about fun in the cold and snow!
Membership Form – Included with this mailing is your 2014-2015 Membership form, as in years past Family Memberships are $20 and Business Sponsors are $50. We look forward to receiving your application. Remember those working hard to make our trail system one of the best are all Volunteers.
Elections Announcement – Three board seats Rich Filley, Bill Weaver and Rob Tomlinson will be up for election at the General Membership meeting December 4, 2014. If, you would like to nominate someone for any of these seats mail that information to AVSA, PO Box 1176, Grayling, MI 49738 or in person prior to the December 4, 2014 General Membership Meeting.
2013-2014 Season Stats –
*We ended up grooming 6,917 miles on 86 miles of trail
*Grooming run time: 1,193 hours
*Average speed of: 5.79 MPH
*Fuel cost: $26,303.15 – Cost per mile: $3.80
*Groomer maintenance, parts and repairs: $4,970.25
*Total reimbursement from the State: $35,760.89 – for grooming, snow plowing, signing, brushing, permits and groomer maintenance
Trail maintenance – Trail brushing began early this year due to storms in the Frederic and Lovell’s areas. Normally brushing does not start until mid-October. Brushing should be completed by late September.
At the intersection of Trail 7 and 47 north of M93 several trail signs along with a Trail Map Sign Board were all maliciously destroyed this summer. This is the second year in a row the Trail Map Board has been destroyed and at this time there are no plans to replace it again. The trail marking signs will be replaced in October during normal trail signing.
Pre-season maintenance – Now is the time for each of us to start thinking about pre-season maintenance of our snowmobiles and the hauling equipment. A little time spent now in preparing for this coming season can save hours of frustration on the way to our favorite trails and on the trails.
Snowmobile USA Show and Sale – Novi, MI November 7-9, 2014 held at the Suburban Collection Showplace
General Membership Meetings– are held on the First Thursday of every month beginning in October running through April at the Ramada Inn of Grayling starting at 7: pm. AVSA meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
Our first meeting of the season will be October 2, 2014.
Meeting dates for the 2014 – 2015 season are as follows:
November 6, 2014 December 4, 2014 January 1, 2015 (Possible change in this date due to New Years) February 5, 2015 March 5, 2015 April 2, 2015
