The past 2 weeks have been very hectic with military activity in our area. People don’t realize that for those of us that live here the sounds of war are an everyday thing that we see and hear as just part of our every day life. If I am at my camper or outside in the mornings at 7:30 I hear revelle (not sure how you spell that) going off at the guard camp or at 11 at night you will hear taps. Walking out my front door you hear machine gun or small arms fire across the lake and sometimes they touch off something that will rattle the neighborhood. The past two weeks Northern Strike has been going on with thousands of troops training here. Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, they have all been here. Marines jumping from planes out on to Lake Margrethe and amphibias vehicles running down the sandhill and crossing the lakes to portable bridges set into the water at Camp Grayling beach and then loading a crane on to them. Air to ground live firing and bombing in Lovells at the air to ground range along with me getting the heck scared out of me as I was driving down 612 by lovells and it being perfect timing for two big howitzers getting set off just as I was driving by about 100 feet from them. That really rocked my truck and me. I stopped to watch but of course the two they fired off were the last two for the day. Those guys work hard at what they do and have brought a lot of business to our community in the past couple of weeks. Its going to be a bit quitter now with all of them heading out shortly. That has been our excitement. I sat out on the pontoon the other day watching the marines jump. Below are a few pictures a couple of them I borrowed from my friend GMs facebook page. On the snowmobile news there was a fatality on a sled last week. Here is a link to the story Summer snowmobile Death I would think they would add this one to this past seasons fatalites. If not that starts the new count out very early. I know its been a while since I have been on here. A couple weeks ago we spent the weekend on Drummond island side by side riding and that was a lot of fun. I also was bummed that I didn’t make it out to Sturgis this year for the rally. That’s about it for now. Thanks for checking in. Pete
