Happy New Year! Finally some snow

Happy New Year and Finally some snow. We had 7 to 9 inches of nice rideable snow since yesterday afternoon. For those lucky enough to ride in it last night and this morning you cant ask for much better. I was up here at 630 this morning to plow and saw three sleds coming thru about 7 this morning. I saw some more down at the gas station about 8. Still haven’t had the first sled of the season into Sledheads yet but if it doesn’t happen to day I may just have to give up. Now the bad part is that this is all the snow we are supposed to get and then back to warmer temps this week so once this gets worn down that’s it till the next round. I have had several calls from people that are on their way for a day ride. Pics below I took at the gas station last night about 7 and it was Tony and his friend out for a ride. The other 2 pics are from my friend Big Jim who lives in Valdez, Alaska. I talked to him on the phone on sunday afternoon and he was driving from Anchorage to Valdez which is about 300 miles. He was about 50 miles into his trip when I was talking to him and he said that Valdez hasn’t had much snow this year. Well yesterday afternoon he calls me and said that right after he hung up with me this moose came running up out of the ditch and right in front of his Escalade. Luckily it didn’t go thru his window but it sent him to the hospital for a few hours and he said he was very sore. The accident took the head off of the moose. When he called he was right about back to the same spot where I had talked to him the day before as he had borrowed a truck from a friend in Anchorage to get back home. He said that Valdez had 2 feet of snow overnight. I went riding there years ago and they don’t use snow plows on trucks there. Everyone has loaders as when it snows it not inches, its in feet. I sure wish we could get that here. Thanks for checking in and Please Ride Safely. PeteIMG_7971 IMG_7972 IMG_7969 IMG_7970
