No Snow Here

No Snow Here, everybody was hyped up with the weathermans prediction of 3 to 6 inches of snow but it looks like it all went way south of us as there isn’t anything here. I see pictures online from several people that have posted snow pics…..So the wait is on with only a little more than a week till the trails open for the season. We have been busy all week trying to clean and straighten up my front room here in Sledheads. This will be the 19th season for Sledheads and  a hard cleaning and dusting was in order. It surprising how much dust collects here in the summer even with no traffic coming in or out. All the wood is getting wiped down and cleaned with murphys oil and I have to say it looks much better. I tend to really let this place go in the summer because I can make a bench out of anything and Cathy really gets on me about that. Below is the newsletter from the AVSA for this month. I guess its time to practice what I preach as I was informed this month that I am not a current member of the AVSA and I am always asking people to join. So I need to get my money in. At the bottom of the newsletter is how you can join too. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Trails Open December 1st, do your snow dance!

Groomer Building Project – The lease agreement with the County for a parcel of land in the Sports Complex was agreeable, however construction estimates came in higher than expected exceeding our original budget.  Local banks are not willing to make a construction loan for a building on leased land so back to square one and look for land to purchase.

Elections Announcement – Three board seats Keith Miles, Rob Yon and Art Fisette will be up for election at the General Membership meeting December 3, 2015.  If, you would like to nominate someone for any of these seats mail that information to AVSA, PO Box 1176, Grayling, MI 49738 or in person prior to the December 3, 2015 General Membership Meeting.

Trail Maintenance – Brushing and signing has been completed.  When the crews are signing it looks like a parade coming down the trail.  A tractor for auguring holes, a pickup with signposts, finally the truck with signs and we need many different signs.  There are three major reasons we need to replace some signs annually on the trails delamination, theft, and vandalism.  Seems people feels signs are targets!
