a little more snow overnight

We had about 2 more inches of fluffy lake effect overnight. I have said many times over the years that I will open for the season here on Dec 15 or when the snow flies, which ever comes first. Well we are up to the 15th and sleds are slowly coming out but there is still not any riders around to speak of. Only had a few stop in yesterday and I talked to 3 riders this morning that had started out at the Super 8 south of grayling. They gave the trails an o.k., still no grooming going on but it is getting closer. I checked the Ramada and Days Inn this morning and there was one sled and no trailer at the Days Inn and just one trailer at the Ramada. People seem to be wrapped up with the holidays and I have always said that even if we have decent snow in December business is a little bit better than no snow but it never really kicks in till after Christmas. There is a vintage sled ride across the Mackinaw Bridge tomorrow so if you watch the bridge camera you can catch that. Just had a guy stop in from Holland that is on his way up to it. Pics below from this morning where trail 7 comes out from grayling at the north end of Frederic, these are the flint guys that started by Super 8. If you do get to ride STAY OFF THE LAKES, a rider went thru Bear Lake by Traverse city…..luckily he wasn’t the first one of the sled fatalities this year as they got him out. I like to constantly preach safety and he certainly was being safe. Last year was a record for sledding deaths. Thankfully a record low with only 5 killed. It would be nice to see a lower number this season. Thanks for checking in. PeteIMG_9697[1] IMG_9698[1]
